Back in the day, I lived for the old Tiger Woods video games. Not just for the swing stick or the fantasy courses—but for the Hero challenges.
You remember those, right? Each course had its own personality… its own “boss.” You’d grind your way through the Tour events sure, but what was really fun was to face off against Big Mo or Black Widow with everything on the line. It wasn’t just golf—it was a battle. A little over-the-top, a little ridiculous, but so much fun.
Lately I’ve been thinking… what if I could bring just a taste of that feeling to GSPro?
No, I can’t actually build Hero Mode into the game itself (though man, I wish I could). But I can give you something to spice up your rounds—a new way to compete, practice, and get better with a purpose.
So today, I’m testing something I’m calling Hero Mode.
You’ll be taking on a true Southern gentleman in a 9-hole duel at my newest course. He’s not long off the tee… but he doesn’t miss. And before your round? Bo quietly removed your driver.
That’s right—no drivers allowed. You’ll be grinding against Bo’s target score using only 3-wood or less off the tee. This is about accuracy, tempo, and short game grit.
Anyone. Hero Mode is built to scale with your skill level:
If you’re a +2 handicap, your goal is to shoot under par.
If you’re an 18 handicap, try to beat +10 or better. Adjust from there.
Play it gross or net—your choice.
The point isn’t to make it too tough (yet)… it’s to feel the vibe.
This is the first in what I hope becomes a full series. If it catches on, I’ll roll out Hero Modes for my other courses—and build out even deeper stories, rivalries, and multi-hero progression systems.
I'll create a new community channel where we can talk Hero Mode, swap ideas, and even share custom challenges. Want to invent your own course hero? Post it. Want to tweak the Bo challenge? I’m all ears.
Your feedback will shape where this goes next. This whole thing started because I wanted more ways to make sim golf fun, competitive, and a little bit weird again. I don't play on the tours anymore. Let's face it, I'm not winning any trophies against the big guns these days. However, anything that gets me grinding on my game is a good thing.
So… ready to face Bo?
Download the PDF below, fire up Reunion Tides, and give it a go.
Let the grind begin.
