Carved out of the Illinois prairie, 60 miles west of Chicago. If you know Black Sheep Golf Club, you know there's nothing else like it in the Midwest. No pool, no kitchen, no pretension. Just golf, a saloon, and 18 holes of inland links through rolling native grassland.

This one's been a labor of love. 300+ bunkers across the property, acres of fescue that'll swallow your ball whole, and elevation changes you don't expect from Illinois. The routing plays with the wind the way a links course should, and every tee shot gives you a risk/reward decision worth thinking about.

What makes this build special: the prairie is the course. Fairways are carved through native grass like corridors, and the fescue edges are sharp and punishing. Big fairways give you options off the tee, but aim at the wrong side and you're chipping out sideways.

Green complexes range from subtle to terrifying, with greenside bunkers that demand you actually think about your approach angle. The whole thing plays like a private club should feel: strategic, honest, and just hard enough to keep you coming back. At least this is the vibe I was going for.
