TBC Virtues

Nashport, Ohio. An hour east of Columbus. You probably know it better as Longaberger back in the day, but the bones Arthur Hills routed out there have always been the real story.

This site gave me everything I needed. Old farmland, a played-out quarry, ridgelines that actually move, and tallgrass framing almost every hole. Hills wasn't subtle with this one, and I didn't try to be either. The greens are big and bold the way he built them, the fairways tumble more than you expect for Midwest golf, and there's a handful of holes out there that just sit in your memory after you play them.

A few things I'm particularly happy with on this build:

  • The native grass reads the way it should. Warm, wispy, and thick enough to actually cost you a stroke if you miss on the wrong side.
  • The elevation on the back nine came through. The tee shots off the ridges feel like they do in person, especially the long par 4s where you can see the green sitting 60 feet below you.
  • The green complexes. Hills loved big, sweeping putting surfaces and I leaned into that. Three-putts are on you, not the builder.

You all picked this one out of the Round 27 vote and the LiDAR was sitting there waiting, which is always a gift. Big thanks to everyone who nominated it.

Bulls Bay is up next. Keep grinding.
