Fraser Edmundston Golf Club is live, and Meadow Club is next

Fraser Edmundston Golf Club is live on the members server.

This was the next course up from the vote, and it ended up being a really cool build. There's a railway that runs right alongside the holes, a beautiful river flowing next to the course, and the scenery all the way around it really takes you away. It's one of those courses where you stop between shots just to look around.

A little history

Fraser Edmundston sits in Edmundston, New Brunswick, up in the northwest corner of the province near the Quebec and Maine borders. The club goes back to 1926, when a group of local golfers put a modest course together on the Madawaska River basin.

The course people play today took shape in 1947, when Albert Murray laid it out using the natural contours of the land. It has been updated since, but the bones are his. From the back tees it stretches past 7,000 yards at par 73.

What stands out

The railway. It's the first thing you notice, and it gives the course a look you don't see very often. Several holes run right next to the tracks.

The river. The Madawaska River flows right next to the course and comes into play on a few holes. There's also a pond in front of one of the par 3s and a creek cutting across the fairway on another hole.

The setting. Hills in the distance, tall tree lines framing the holes, and a little fall color starting to show. It feels tucked away from everything.

It's not a difficult course. It's one you can play with anyone and enjoy, and a good one to just relax on.

It's also in the RISE Random 9 pool now, so you might draw it in Quick 9.

Next up: Meadow Club

The next round of voting went to Meadow Club in Fairfax, California, and it looks awesome.

Meadow Club was the first course Alister MacKenzie designed in America, and the first project of his partnership with Robert Hunter. That same team went on to do Cypress Point and Pasatiempo. The front nine opened in 1927 and the back nine followed in 1928. Between 1999 and 2010 the club restored it back toward MacKenzie's original greens and bunkers.

It's on the bench now. I'll post progress as it comes together.
