Ashfang, the Cinder Wyrm, rising over the volcano on hole 3

Cursed Grounds is live on the members server, just in time for Halloween.

This one is different from anything I've built. It's three holes, and every hole is its own game. I honestly don't think anything like it has been done in sim golf before. I've had more fun testing this than just about anything I've made, and I can't wait for you to play it.

How to play

Play it from Practice, On Course Practice. Scoring doesn't work in Local Play. The game follows the hole, so when your ball lands on a hole's tee, that hole's game switches on by itself.

The setup panel in the bottom left is where you pick the number of players (up to four), max shots and names, and read the rules. Press Done to tuck it away.

Hole 1: Siege of Ravenhold

This is your warm-up. The dead have taken Ravenhold, and every ball you hit is a stone from your siege engine.

The castle at Ravenhold from the tee, with every target marked

There are targets all over the castle grounds, from the graveyard out front to the beacon on top of the tower for 1,000. Thread the main gate, drop one over the walls, or take a shot at the bell tower. Simple, and a good way to get loose.

Hole 2: Blast Radius

This is where it gets fun. Your ball is a bomb, and the village is crawling with zombies. Every zombie near where your ball lands blows up, and the closer you land, the more you score.

Then there are the red barrels. Hit one and it sets something off: powder kegs, a crane dropping its load, a runaway cart, a tower coming down. Barrels caught in another blast score double, so chain them together and watch the whole place go up. Anything you blow up stays down until you clear the scores, and the scoreboard keeps track of it all.

A blast taking out a crowd of zombies for 1,100

I've lost a lot of hours to this hole already. It's just a blast, pun intended.

Hole 3: Ashfang

Hole 3 you just have to see to believe.

It's a boss fight. Ashfang, the Cinder Wyrm, lives in a valley full of lava under a volcano, and you've got 20 shots to bring him down. Every time he lands, a ring appears around him. Put your ball through it, or hit him, and he feels it. Miss and he comes for you. You've got three hearts.

That's all I'm going to say. Go see it for yourself.

If you run into anything, performance or otherwise, let me know and I'll get it cleaned up.

What's next

We are not slowing down. It's time to accelerate.

I've got two commissioned courses in the queue that I think you're going to love, and I'll be announcing them soon. The new voting site is coming along too, and I'll have an update on it in the next few weeks.

I'm also expecting the Unity 6 tools for GSPro to show up any day now. When they do, my first plan is to dig into the new toolset and see how far I can push Unity 6 on some of my top courses. That means voting on new builds will slow down a bit, and that's why I've put it on hold for the moment.

There's a lot more in the queue for this winter that I can't wait to share. I really believe this is going to be the biggest year yet for GSPro and for Tekbud.

Happy Halloween, enjoy Cursed Grounds, and let me know how you do against Ashfang.
